The Gift of Life: "Leave a Legacy"

Have you ever thought about the significance of your legacy?

Your legacy is a reflection of who you are as a person, your values, your aspirations, and your commitments.

A person's legacy is a lasting testimony to his/her life goals and values. A legacy can be an eloquent way of expressing your identity. It can make a statement to your family and community. It can also be a durable way of expressing your pride and confidence that the future will bring an end to the 'Culture of Death' so prevalent in today's society.

When you leave an estate or a bequest to Priests for Life Canada, you make a lasting gift to ensure that lifesaving work will carry on.

Where there's a Will, there's a way

Preparing a Will is a way of guaranteeing that your assets and capital are distributed according to your wishes. The absence of a Will can result in your assets being appropriated or distributed by the government.

Should you wish, your legacy gift to Priests for Life Canada can be earmarked for a specific use, or left to assist Priests for Life Canada in its ongoing life-saving work.

Q . How do I leave a gift to Priests for Life Canada?

It's easy. You can arrange for a gift several ways, the most common being through a charitable gift in a Will. Many people set aside a certain dollar amount. Others leave a percentage of their estate or any assets left over after their family has been provided for. Some people choose to donate cash, securities, or real or personal property. Others leave life insurance policies, funds from retirement accounts, or other financial assets.

Q. Must I have a sizeable estate in order to leave a gift?

Anyone can leave a gift. "Estate" is simply a word used to describe any money, property, or personal belongings that you own at the time of your death. Most people leave an estate when they die, even though they may not have had a great deal of wealth.

Q. Do I tell Priests for Life Canada that I've left them a gift?

The decision is yours. However, by including the organization in the planning of the gift we can inform you about specific opportunities for giving and ensure that your objectives for the gift will be met. We would also like recognize your generosity.

Q. Can I leave a gift in the memory of a loved one?

Yes. A gift in memory of a loved one is a wonderful way to recognize someone who has made a difference in your life. This kind of memorial gift can be arranged in your Will. You just need to make it clear that the gift is given in memory of a particular person or for a specific use.

Q. Who can help me arrange for making a gift?
